Prosthetic dentistry is the branch of science that deals with the aesthetic and functional restoration of lost teeth or dental tissues. Prosthetic restorations are divided into two broad categories: fixed and removable.

Fixed Prosthodontics includes crowns, bridges, porcelain veneers, as well as implant-supported prosthetics.

Crown: A crown is an artificial cap that fits over the prepared tooth in order to restore its original shape, function, and improve its appearance. The purpose of a crown is to ensure the long-term preservation of the underlying tooth.

Bridge: A bridge is a fixed prosthetic restoration that is anchored to the adjacent natural teeth in order to aesthetically and functionally replace the missing ones.

Veneers: Porcelain veneers are very thin prosthetic restorations that are bonded to the outer surface of the teeth, improving their color and shape.

Removable prosthodontics includespartial and complete dentures. which can be removed from the mouth by the patient for daily care. In many cases, dental implants may also be placed to enhance the retention of these removable prostheses.
